Prayer needed

This morning I practiced the “flop open bible” devotional time. You know the one where you sit down and let you bible open to a page and read it hoping to find a special message just for you? It opened to Psalms 23, I kind of laughed, the death and dying psalm. I don’t think there is much in there for me, so I should move on. Before I did, I allowed my eyes to review the psalm as I read along in my mind. I got to the first part of verse 5 and stopped. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”

In preparation for our upcoming mission, we have seen the acts of the evil one clearly. Attacks in our minds, marriage and children have all been present. As a wife and mother, this dissention in harmony of our family has been felt acutely. I have been trying resist, rebuke, and stand against the evil one and the battle just keeps raging around me.

I am weary, heart broken, sometimes defeated and most of all frustrated. Then Psalms 23:5a came along. “In the presence of my enemies” there may not be a time in the near future when my enemy will leave. His determination may be strong. BUT! (One of my favorite scriptural words) He is preparing a table for me. I think that the table that God would prepare for me would be grand. One with lace table cloths, fine china, many types of forks to use, many courses, this my friends, is not drive-thru. This table would be a time of rest to eat, enjoy good conversation, talk about the goodness of the Lord, remember the battles that have been one and renew your energy to fight some more.

So the battle may still be raging, but the Lord provides us a reprieve.

So Satan, try all you like, but right now, I am eating dinner!

Please pray for us.
For clarity of minds, oneness in spirit, determination and hope.

All packed!

The truck came by last night (a day earlier than we anticipated) and picked up our belongings. They are on their way to NY to be shipped by boat to Kenya. It will take 3-9 months for them to get there, so it will be just like Christmas to open all of our things!

Please pray for continued preparedness as we plan our cross county trip.
